How to qualify as a Doctor of Chiropractic in Florida

Individuals aspiring to practice as chiropractors within the state ought to meet the minimum education requirements with subsequent certifications to confirm the same. They must also practice the profession with a license which is issued by the Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine. There are 5 types of licenses and certifications issued by the board and they are:

  • Chiropractic Physician
  • Certified Chiropractic Physician's Assistant
  • Registered Chiropractic Assistant
  • Acupuncture Certification
  • Chiropractic Medical Faculty Certificate

For more info on these licenses and certifications please contact the board, http://floridaschiropracticmedicine.gov/licensing/

Another requirement that should precede the license application is the Continuing Education Certificate. All applicants must ensure that they complete 40 hours of CE required every 2 years. Additionally FBCM does not approve any online course that offers CE. The topics covered in CE are: bullet proof documentation, risk management, case studies and clinical pearls, coding and documentation, ethics, evidence based practice, neurology, nutrition, pediatrics, ICD-10, manipulation and manual therapy, radiology, rehabilitation, sports medicine and whiplash.
