British Chiropractic Association

As we compare and contrast the various chiropractic organizations throughout the world, the list would not be complete without including the BCA. As a “red-blooded” American as “they” like to say, I’ve found learning about chiropractic globally quite fascinating.

Quick History

The British Chiropractic Association is the oldest and original chiropractic association in the UK. It’s been around for 95 years and has had its hand in developing and moving the profession forward. They have been tackling big issues for chiropractic for the entire span of its existence.  As any chiropractor is well aware of, our profession has had its share of hard times.  I know just in the US from the early 1900’s onward it was one legal battle after another.  Once the American Medical Association got involved in the 1960’s the storm just worsened until the 1980’s.  Then it took another 20 years to help improve the image of the profession.  I can’t imagine that chiropractors around the world, including the UK, didn’t face the same struggles. It was great to read that the BCA has helped in those battles too.

Memberships

  • I think the best thing with the memberships, as of right now, is that all of them have been discounted because of the pandemic.
  • Memberships include malpractice insurance (that’s so helpful) plus their coverage is very comprehensive.
  • The BCA is very science based, and even on their main page they have new research articles listed.
  • The BCA helps keep you compliant and up-to-date on all new info for licensing and regulations.
  • As a member, you get listed on their website so potential patients can search for you.

Here are the updated prices for 2021

If I may, those are great prices (even in GBP) to belong to an organization plus have malpractice insurance. My part-time malpractice insurance in the States is $1000/year.
